Square or Circle
The main purposes of Xin Chen's design are communicating the different cultures and offering a new experiencing to appreciate the furniture. He has created a new way of constructing furniture that is joining all individual parts and holding them together through rope by tension without gluing and screwing. He has also created a new form of furniture representation that is disassembling the furniture into individual pieces, then rearranging and transforming into a new cultural image representation. The design can be satisfied with both functional and aesthetic for people simultaneously.
Square or Circle Chair by Xin Chen has been identified as an innovative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Square or Circle Chair received the Iron A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2020. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program which honors excellent design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
